The experienced engineer, fulltime position is based in our Newcastle/Central Coast Office. This role requires the applicant to demonstrate a strong understanding of the principles of structural and civil engineering and to have at least 5 year of local (Australian) residential experience, preferably within a consulting engineering firm. The primary role of an experience structural engineer will be to assist in the structural design of residential homes for large building companies and also manage smaller clients projects from start to finish, which will include the initial client engagement stage and providing a scope of services and estimate, to designing a solution within the clients scope and budget, providing relevant documentation, right through to construction stage inspections. Examples of projects will include new residential/commercial/institutional developments, renovations/additions, swimming pool and retaining wall projects.

This position will involve you understanding instructions and liaising with clients, builders, councils, certifiers and planners. Work under minimal supervision. Present calculations and documentation in a clear and concise manner and discuss technical assumptions and decisions.  The role will require working from the office as well as fieldwork on an occasional basis for investigations and inspections.

We seek an individual with:

• Approximately 5-8 years local experience in structural engineering.

• Time management skills and the ability to work across several projects at once

• Graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours from an Australian University.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly with clients.

• Well-developed problem-solving / analytical skills.
• Structural steel design knowledge

• Perficient in AutoCAD with Revit experience as a benefit.
